Questions You Need Answered When Hiring a Contractor
Are they fully insured? Fully Insured means liability & workmen's compensation on all of their employees. If you check with your insurance agent, they would tell you to ask that the contractor have his insurance company send you a certificate of insurance. The last thing that you would not want is to be sued by someone who gets hurt on your property. Do not take that chance with your home!
Do they use subcontractors? If they do, be sure that they are insured and registered with the state as an independent contractor. Most subcontractors do not carry workmen's compensation on themselves.
What is the quality of materials they will be using? Do they simply go and buy the cheapest materials, or do they get you the best price on good, reliable products that are going to last?
Do they guarantee their workmanship and for how long? Are their others that can vouch for the guarantee? Do they have good customer reviews?
Do they have references that you can call and or go see the quality of their work? Was the customer totally satisfied?
